Dave's Porcelain is a porcelainious stoneware with a fine white surface.
First the entire bowl was glazed with Blue
Ice. Then a wax resist design was painted on (and allowed to dry). Then the bowl was reglazed with Pete's
Red. Finally it was fired in a normal firing.
Normally when I glaze a bowl I dip it in the glaze and immediately remove it, making a fairly thin coat of glaze.
